Help a stranger let go, with nothing but words.

Coming to Steam. Demo first.

Every night, souls wait on this platform for their last train. Each of them is carrying something: a regret, a misunderstanding, a wrong they don't know about.

You can't fix it for them. You can sit down beside one, and listen.

Speak in your own words

No dialogue choices. Say what you would really say. They hear it, and they react: they open up, or they pull away. Give advice before they're ready, and watch what happens.

The other side

Things from the other side of their story find you: a file changed at 11:52 PM, a crossword with one clue filled in. They have never seen these. Show one too early and it hurts. At the right moment, it changes everything.

Everyone here is connected

Strangers on the same platform share more than they know. What one of them gives you might be exactly what another one needs to hear.

How it's made

A game about listening has to let you speak in your own words, and understanding them takes AI. So the souls answer you live through an AI language model, inside stories, evidence and endings designed by hand.

The pixel art and the music were made for this game, without image or music AI. The world and its big story come from the developer's own novel.

What They Carry is a game, not therapy.
